Climate-driven changes across the Atlantic, from Antarctica to the Arctic, are creating growing risks for Europe’s climate, economy, infrastructure and resilience.
On 11 September 2026, scientists, policymakers and stakeholders will meet in Brussels for the science-policy event titled: One Ocean: What polar and Atlantic change means for Europe. The event will present new research and discuss changes on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), ocean circulation and ice shelves in polar regions, and what these changes mean for Europe.
EPB and Seascape Consultants Ltd are organising the event on behalf of the Horizon Europe projects OCEAN ICE and EPOC, which they are partners in. The event is hosted by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences.
Discussions will focus on the implications of ocean and polar change for Europe’s climate, economy and infrastructure, as well as the role of integrated research in strengthening resilience and preparedness.
When: 11 September 2026, 12:30–16:30
Where: Natural History Museum, Brussels, and online
Networking: From 11:30
