UNESCO: World Day for Glaciers 2026

A two-day event organized by UNESCO for the World Day for Glaciers 2026 will close the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (IYGP 2025), led by UNESCO and WMO. The event will also mark the technical launch of the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (DACS 2025–2034), coordinated by UNESCO. The goal is to ensure that the momentum generated during the International Year is carried forward into a sustained and coordinated global effort over the next decade.
UNESCO invites expressions of interest to organize side events at its Headquarters in Paris on 19–20 March 2026, in the context of the World Day for Glaciers 2026 celebration.
