UArctic Congress 2026

Date: May 25th, 2026 - May 28th, 2026

Location: Tórshavn, Faroe Islands

The UArctic Congress is a biennial event that combines a major science conference with key UArctic meetings to strengthen collaboration across the Arctic region. It brings together institutional leaders, Indigenous representatives, researchers, students, and policymakers to advance the Arctic agenda through shared research and solutions.

The UArctic Congress 2026 will be held May 26–29, 2026, in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, hosted by the University of the Faroe Islands with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, and the Faroe Marine Research Institute.

Aligned with the Kingdom of Denmark’s Arctic Council Chairship priorities, the 2026 themes include:

  • Sustainable Economic Development and International Cooperation
  • Oceans
  • Climate Change in the Arctic
  • Biodiversity
  • Indigenous Peoples and Northern Communities

A special feature of the 2026 event is the Ocean Connectivity Conference, focusing on Sub-Arctic and High Arctic ocean connectivity, organized in partnership with the Arctic Council.

The Congress will also feature the UArctic Assembly, Rectors meeting, and multiple networking and social events, offering members valuable opportunities to build partnerships and enhance cooperation in Arctic research and education.
