The Antarctic Futures Symposium
Date: April 22nd, 2026 - April 23rd, 2026
Location: Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce building, located at 7 Rue Alcide de Gasperi, 1615 Kirchberg Luxembourg.
The Antarctic Futures Symposium, organized by the International Polar Foundation, will take place on 23–24 April 2026 at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg. The event will gather scientists, industry representatives, infrastructure developers, and institutional partners to discuss and shape the development of the Andromeda Earth Observatory, a proposed next-generation Antarctic research platform planned for the 2032–33 International Polar Year.
The symposium aims to define the scientific priorities of the project while encouraging cooperation and investment between research institutions, industry, governments, and long-term investors. Designed as a zero-emission facility, the observatory will combine an international university hub, a research and development center for testing technologies in extreme environments, and a ground station for Earth-observation data and communications. Building on the foundation’s experience operating the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica research station, the Andromeda project seeks to create a long-term platform that advances climate research, technological innovation, and sustainable infrastructure in Antarctica.
