II Latin Polar Science Workshop

On April 16, 2026, the Portucalense Legal Institute organises the II Latin Polar Science Workshop−based on the recognition of the central role of the Arctic and Antarctic in the stability of the global climate system, as well as the impact of polar transformations on regions such as Latin America and Southern Europe

The event aims to strengthen the Latin‑European presence in global discussions on polar science, promote interdisciplinary approaches that connect polar science, climate, oceans, sustainability, and governance, and reinforce research networks, including by encouraging the participation of early‑career researchers.

The workshop will take place in a hybrid format, allowing broad international participation both in person and online. Participants may register as attendees (listeners), and a certificate of participation will be issued.

The event will feature as keynote speakers:
• Hanne Brusletto (Ambassador of Norway to Portugal)
• Élise Racicot (Ambassador of Canada to Portugal)

The Honour Committee includes:

• Klaus Dodds (Interim Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, Middlesex University)
