EMODnet Open Conference 2025

The EMODnet Open Conference 2025, taking place on 25–26 November 2025 in Brussels, is the fourth edition of the European Marine Observation and Data Network’s flagship event, themed “EMODnet: An essential marine data service of the European Ocean Pact.” It brings together the EMODnet community of over 130 partners, policymakers, scientists, and stakeholders to discuss EMODnet’s role in supporting EU ocean and environmental policies, marine observation systems, and digital ocean initiatives. A key highlight will be the launch of “EMODnet Vision 2035,” outlining the network’s long-term strategy for advancing marine data services. Positioned within the EU Marine Knowledge Week, the conference will emphasize EMODnet’s contribution to the European Digital Twin Ocean and its alignment with major EU and global ocean sustainability goals.

EPB's Executive Secretary will participate in a panel discussion on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, from 10:45 to 12:15, during Session 5: EMODnet Service Evolution.

This Panel brings together representatives of EMODnet’s diverse stakeholder community to share their perspectives on how EMODnet should evolve as an essential marine data service for the European Ocean Pact, including strengthening the service offer across the coastal, deep-sea and polar domains, identifying complimentarity with other EU data services and key partnerships e.g, for the European Digital Twin Ocean, and how EMODnet can further strengthen its cooperation with other regions worldwide and with global ocean data sharing and interoperability activities for the global ocean data ecosystem.
