Upcoming webinar with Timo Koivurova, and recording of webinar with Yves Frenot

On Thursday 2nd November, Timo Koivurova will give a webinar titled "An introduction to the Arctic Council". The webinar is the second to be organised by the European Polar Board (EPB) in partnership with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS).

More than 100 people registered for the excellent first EPB-APECS webinar on "The Antarctic Treaty and the protection of the environment" given by Yves Frenot, Director of the Insitut Polaire Français Paul-Emile Victor (IPEV). The second EPB-APECS webinar, given by Timo Koivurova, Research Professor and Director of the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, will provide an introduction to the structure and workings of the Arctic Council. Aimed at all career stages, the webinar will increase understanding of Arctic policymaking processes, and the role of research in these.

The Arctic Council is the leading intergovernmental forum promoting cooperation, coordination and interaction among the Arctic States, Arctic indigenous communities, and other Arctic inhabitants. Giving an overview of its structure, including Members, Permanent Participants, and Working Groups, this webinar will act as an introduction to the Arctic Council, providing information on its workings, issues of focus, and recent achievements.
