The Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW), organised annually by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), will take place from 20-28 March 2025, in Boulder, Colorado.
This year’s ASSW is particularly significant as it features the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) Summit (25-28 March). Bringing together researchers, Indigenous representatives, and policymakers, the summit will play a pivotal role in shaping Arctic research priorities for the next decade. It also marks a key milestone in preparations for the Fifth International Polar Year (2032–33) and will serve as a platform for discussing the initial outcomes of the seven ICARP IV Research Priority Teams.
The European Polar Board (EPB) looks forward to contributing to several important sessions. In addition, an informal closed meeting for EPB members is being organised on March 23 from 16:00-18:00 (local time) in the Glen Miller Ballroom (UMC - Room 212).
Members of the polar research community are invited to join the following sessions co-organised by EPB:
EU Polar Cluster Session & Booth
Organized in collaboration with British Antarctic Survey (BAS), this session will take place on March 24, from 08:00-10:00 (local time) in UMC - Room 384. This session comes at an important time as we build on the momentum following EU-PolarNet 2 and its legacy through the European Polar Coordination Office (EPCO), which will continue coordinating the EU Polar Cluster. Members of the EU Polar Cluster are encouraged to share relevant updates and insights during the open discussion of this session.Joint Meeting of National / Regional Polar Organizations
Scheduled for March 23, from 10:30-14:30 (local time) in UMC - Room 247, this session will bring together representatives from the U.S. Polar Research Board, European Polar Board, Polar Knowledge Canada, and the Asian Forum on Polar Sciences. Discussions will focus on the role of polar organisations in international collaboration and preparations for the Fifth International Polar Year (IPY5).
Beyond these sessions, Maria Grigoratou (EPB Executive Secretary) will deliver several invited talks, and EPB members will actively participate in a variety of discussions throughout the week. For the full ASSW 2025 programme, please visit: https://assw.info/program/assw-2025-program.
