GEOCRI for the end users of Cold Regions Earth Observations (POLAR2018 side meeting)

Date

19.06.2018

Location

Davos, Switzerland

Description

Group on Earth Observations (GEO, https://www.earthobservations.org/geo_community.php) is a partnership of more than 100 national governments and in excess of 100 Participating Organizations that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations. GEO Cold Regions Initiative (GEOCRI) is a network of organisations, countries and projects within GEO, covering cross-cutting scientific issues and societal benefit areas related to both remote and in situ observations from the world’s cold regions including the Arctic, the Antarctic and high-mountain areas. The side meeting will provide an introduction to the GEOCRI, including its main contributors, activities and services to end-users of cold region related Earth observation data. The meeting will especially highlight two ongoing GEOCRI activities: the development of the GEOCRI Community Portal and the Essential Cold Regions Variables.
