The “Roadmap to decolonial Arctic Research”, where The Saami Council has served as co-lead, was published in June 2023. The roadmap is a toolkit to support EU policymakers with aim to make Arctic research fairer and more respectful to Arctic Indigenous communities. This step towards decolonizing Arctic research will honor Indigenous peoples’ right to self-determination and pave the way for a sustainable future.
